Have a 5mm ophthalmic aneurysm - also afib - Doctors want to put me on blood thinners

Hi:

I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I was diagnosed with a 5mm ophthalmic aneurysm on the right side back in the spring of this year. The neurosurgeon and I both agreed that surgery was not an option as he said that surgery would cause a lot of damage - and so, we would just watch it and have yearly MRIs. However, in the meantime I have just been diagnosed with A-Fib and was in the hospital with it. The heart doctors want to put me on blood thinners - and here lies my problem. We all know that blood thinners can cause bleeding - and one of the complications of the aneurysm is growth and leaking which I hope to avoid at all costs. I am very reluctant to go on blood thinners for this reason - I do not want to stir up the aneurysm. Does anyone else have this problem? Also, I would really appreciate your input on this.

Thanks!
