Hi everyone, thanks for reading! I was hoping one of you may be able to answer a couple of healing questions...I am almost 3 months post op for a clipping on my right side. Within the last 3 weeks I am experiencing extreme swelling from my temple up towards the top of my head. It can get so bad by the evening that is hard to keep my eye open. Is this "normal"? Also having severe itching and sharp stabbing headaches. Thanks for taking the time to read....praying everyone is doing alright!!
Thanks again,
Diane

I never had extreme swelling like you describe, however, somedays I do "notice my scar" for a lack of a better way to describe what I'm feeing! Like, I'll run my fingers over the scar tissue and yeah, sometimes I notice a slight swelling going on but not enough to warrant a doctor visit. Other days, like today, I can't even find the scar when I try to find it by hand...I do know that as your healing continues, alittle more sensation will slowly come back, (that dull itch that doesn't go away when you scrath it), and I can firmly attest to Rons suggestion of the Tres'seme shampoo/conditioner, for me its worked like magic. But the swelling you have sounds a bit extreme to me, enough to warrant a doctor visit for sure. Take care, Janet
Comment by ron k on January 25, 2013 at 12:38am hi Lady! i totally agree with others. My dr recommended head and shoulders shampoo for the itching but i told him i had great sucess with Tre'semme "new shampoo with vitamin e" The stabby pains will definately diminish so hang in there better days are ahead!keep after the docs- we must be our own advocates~
Comment by Carol S on January 24, 2013 at 11:20pm Diane,
I have a little bit of swelling and still do, but not as much as you described. One day I had gone to bed with some swelling and woke up with a lot more. My Dr did the same thing, had me come in and he did a CT Scan just to be on the safe side. He told me to try not to touch it. He said that the itching and weird feelings as things come back to life have caused me to feel my head and scratch and I am fascinated by the lumps and bumps, which can be the cause of the swelling. I haven't had that problem since. That was at about 3 mos post op. I am not 4 mos post op. My head doesn't itch quite as much, but I am still fascinated at feeling everything.
I am glad that you are seeing your doctor on Monday. I pray everything is ok.
Carol
