Headaches after coiling ten yrs. ago

I had a coiling in 03 shortly after a clipping. I've been having some pretty bad HAs for the last 3-4 months in the back of my head. I had wanted to ask if anyone else has had this. My GP's NP is sending me for a CTA tomorrow and I just do not get tests that are not absolutely necessary (Medicare doesn't pay that well). But I just called my favorite person in the medical world at MGH and she said YES! have the CTA. I know I was told that the coiling CAN be like a pillow you fluff and then the feathers start becoming "unfluffed", so I know I'd rather be on the safe side.

Comment by Janet Ulm-Edelman on January 19, 2013 at 1:17am: Yes, do get the CTA....I've had a craniotomy and later coiled for a different aneurysm, and after several years I found the coils were failing on me (which turned into another craniotomy to have the previously coiled aneurysm clipped) My pain wasn't like a headache though, more like an intense screaming pain all of the sudden which put me to my knees)...Please do get the CTA! Comment by akanana on January 17, 2013 at 9:15am: Ron, I had two aneurysms and the first one was clipped and the second one was coiled. Guess I made it sound like I might have clip and coil on one. That surely would be amazing! LOL

Sure hope you get relief so i'll keep you in thoughts & prayers!i thought i got mra to check coil but cant recall. i got angio to check recoil & they said it was 100%, my last test was x ray to check shunt with mra
