can we take antibiotics or medecine like advil when we have unruptured aneurysm

Please help me here. I have an unruptured aneurysm and I am afraid to take antibiotics when I need them.

I have a bronchitis and a severe flue with fever, and my general doctor didn't give me anything to cure my illness. I am now sick for more than a week, and it doesn't go away.

I am in France, and the way the doctors treat things here are really extremely different from America. So I wonder if any of you in the states had any experience with the same situation and if you have been given antibiotics and or medicine like Advil.

Thank you for responding.

All the best for you all

Hi Michelle,

I'm allerigic to penicillin, et al, so I can't comment on augmentin. You can check side effects on-line to see if there are any warnings about bleeding.

I hope you feel better soon.

Take care,

Hi Carol: Thank you. I am taking AUGMENTIN which is Amoxicillin but my bronchitis is not really gone nor the flue, and I still have fever. Strange !

How are you doing yourself ? You know, the french government refused to let me visit a doctor in europe although there is a european agreement for it.

So I see no way of beeing treated and I am forced to let nature takes its course. Talk to me about socialized medecine in france ! Have a nice day. Please tell me how you are doing

God bless you

Michele

Dear John:

Sorry for the delay. I just saw your comment.  Thank you. The doctor gave me amoxicyclyne, Augmentin. I am in Paris france but lived in the states before for 20 years. Are you the person whose wife had a rupture and she stayed in a coma and had a bug, etc. A terrible story.

I am in france, and don't trust my country to be treated here. I have reasons not to trust them: it's not so much of ability as for their mentality and their drive to save money at any cost, also their total lack of feelings and commitment. So I would love to be treated somewhere else. I did find a hospital in Holland, in a tiny city, but I am not sure I did the right choice. Anyway, I had an angiography scheduled for this sunday, but he just called and canceled. So I wonder, what next ?

If you are the person I think you are, I would like to know more about how your wife is doing and I send here all my blessings and to you all the courage in the world. It is very touchy how a man can communicate his fears and tell it so openly. Have courage. Good luck

Michele

Hi Michelle,

I have used antibiotics and pain killers over the years. My PCP does check carefully at possible side effects as well as possible interactions with my anti convulsants to make sure that there are no problems,

Take care.

Hi Michelle,

My wife had an SAH 18 months ago and one small untreated aneurysm and last had a chest infection that went on for a while so the doctor prescribed antibiotics called Clarithromycin, before i gave them to her read the side affect list and it said can cause leaking of blood from blood vessels ,so i called the doctor and he told me not to give them to her in the she just waited for it to clear naturally. She does that co-codamol for headaches though we are in the UK so luckily we don't have to pay for treatment. Hope you feel better soon . John & Sue

Hi Michele,

I have a 2.5 cm unruptured coiled and stented March 1012. I have been hospitalized twice with pneumonia and was given several different kinds of powerful antibiotics with no problems. For the headaches I am taking amitriptylin 75 mg at bedtime. My doctor is trying me on this and it seems to be working well. It is an older medication. Hope you get better.

Dear Jennifer:

Thank you for your reply. I read your story: you were very lucky.

But you see people from North America don't know how it works here in France. He they don't want us to ask questions. Here we have to follow what the big guys tell us and the doctors are considered as gods. This is why I asked my questions here.

In North America, you have no idea how bad the socialized health care is here. They think it's free. It is not only far from free since we pay VAT, 1 Month salary for the healcare,  and the employer pays one month salary each month for each employe for the same healthcare, + 2 months income taxes, and all other taxes: TV, INTERNET, FOOD, and even to breathe you have to pay taxes. You cannot even imagine.

Plus salaries are very low and retirement average is 1000 euros for most citizen

Plus, to save money, they don't do the tests, don't give you the medecine you need, and your surgery is taken care by any doctor they chose - It can be an experienced doctor. They think they have the right to treat you as a guinea pig since, in their opinion, you are getting healthcare for free. They treat you as beggars.

I am telling you this so you understand why I am asking these questions who might appear stupid in my part. Unfortunately, it's the reality in France and most countries in Europe, but France is really the worst.

I lived in the US for 25 years, so I really can make the right comparison.

As for the medecine, I know tylenol, but we don't have it here: we have paracetamol but not with the ingredients that can stop fever in case of a flue. It's only for minor pain.

Graviol, I don't know but I'll find out. You talk about probiotic, I never heard of that either. But I have to see if we have them here.

Thanks again and I hope all is well with you now.

My heart is with you

Michele

Dear Rejendra:

Thank you very much for your kind reply. Can you please tell me what you have in mind when you say: "You must aware about precipitating factors". Do you know if there is a list or something about what medecine not to take to avoid ruputure ?

That is what I am trying to find really. So far, I didn't get much information. But thank you for the antibiotics.

God bless you

Michele
